Guidestone is hosting a one day AgriSummit April 20th at the Salida Steamplant Event Center. The summit hopes planners hope to highlight opportunities for producer networking, discussions and education focused on local food production and agritourism in the Heart of the Rockies region.

The agenda includes workshops and early season farmers market and keynote by Jenn and Joe Wheeling of the James Ranch. Jenn Wheeling says the James Ranch might be considered a model for new and young farmers

The multifamily three generation operation raised 100% grass fed and finished beef, whey-fed pork, artisan cheese and raw milk from 100% grass-fed, grazing Jersey cows. Eggs are produced from pastured hens. There is a spruce tree nursery, an organic vegetable and flower garden, and a busy grill and market.

The very busy families who run the farm use organic growing practices in the day-to-day operation of the ranch and their businesses.

"We are very excited to help young farmer get started."

The folks at James Ranch like those with Guidestone hope to build the capacity of new producers and local food systems to sustain strong producers for years to come.

Registration for the Agri summit closes April 11th.
