The National Agricultural Statistics Service has released it's latest hogs and pigs report. Available online at NASS.USDA.GOV.

NASS Colorado office Spokesman Bill Meyer breaks them down for us.

" A couple of highlights for Colorado, we estimated all hogs and pigs at 50-thousand head, down from September but up 12% from last year. The Cattle on Feed Report estimates are 950-thousand head in the feedlots for feedlots with a thousand head or more."

Meyer says right now the annual Cattle and Sheep surveys are going on right now. It's the only time the Service gets a total number of cattle at the state and national level. That report due out January 31st. Meyer asks producers to please respond by mid January as that data is used by university researchers as well as analysts.

End of season crop estimates will be released January 12th.
