Urban Waters Wins Service To America Medal

The Urban Waters Federal Partnership, a nationwide effort doing important work in Colorado is the recipient of the "People's Choice" award in the Service to America Medals.

The nonpartisan Partnership for Public Service announced the award at its annual gala known as the "Oscars of Government Service." CBS News' Political Director John Dickerson MC'd the event and made the announcement.

"This team transformed land and waterways into treasured community centerpieces reversing decades of neglect and promoting economic, environmental and social benefits.

The South Platte River Urban Waters Federal Partnership is made up of more than 70 groups, federal and state governments, universities, NGOs and private businesses - all coming together for the benefit of the the South Platte River. The staff and volunteers work to protect one of Denver's primary sources of drinking water, while supporting ongoing projects, education, and research.
