Colorado Ag Water Alliance Workshops

Colorado Ag Water Alliance Workshops

There are three Colorado Ag Water Alliance Workshops happening around the state in the first quarter of 2017.

Colorado Ag Water Alliance's Greg Peterson says these half day workshops will provide timely and valuable information for ag producers.

Peterson: "There were several topics we wanted to address that all involved in the new Colorado Water Plan. Some of the deal with water conservation; what opportunities are out there for irrigators to participate in; to conserve agricultural water. Leasing is another topic that is getting a lot of attention throughout the state. We're going to touch on what programs are out there — what is good with them. What is bad about them. We're all have people talking about them at these event that have actually participated in the system conservation pilot program in the Colorado River Basin. We'll also be talking about this report that CSU just came out with called, "Use it or Lose it." Discussing perceptions and misconceptions about water law — what you can get away with and what you can't get away with and how that relates to water conservation."

The first will happen on January 31st at the Glenwood Springs Community Center from 10 a.m. to 2 pm.. The second will be about a month later on February 28th in Alamos at the Rio Grande Water Conservation District. The third will happen at the Steamboat Springs Community Center on March 22nd.
