Crop Progress Report

Crop Progress Report

Sharing some highlights and details from the most recent National Ag Statistic Service Crop Progress report, from the USDA office in Greeley, here is Lindsay Burnet.

Burnet: "The NASS Crop Progress and Production Report for the week ending October 23, 2016 has alfalfa fourth cutting 86 percent complete. Pasture and range conditions were 3 percent very poor, 9 percent poor, 34 percent fair, 47 percent good and 7 percent excellent. Stored feed supplies were short 2 percent, adequate 67 percent and surplus 31 percent. Sheep death loss was 8 percent heavy, 68 percent average and 24 percent light while cattle death loss was 82 percent average and 18 percent light. Colorado remained very warm and dry this past week according to the mountain region of the NASS office of the USDA. A few northern and western counties reported isolated moisture mid-week but drought stress is becoming a critical concern in areas where moisture has not been received in ernest the past few of months. Reporters noted high winds in areas were problematic for soil moisture conditions and increased fire danger."
