Unique Opportunity to Taste the Winners of Governor's Cup Wine Competition

The only statewide winemaking competition exclusively for Colorado wines, is the Governor’s Cup Competition which drew 241 entries from 37 local wineries. The public will have the rare opportunity to taste the 16 winning wines from this competition on August 1st at the History Colorado Center. Colorado Wine Industry Development Board Executive Director Doug Caskey says
Caskey: “This brings together all the award-winning, top wines in one place, and that is something that doesn’t happen very often — even at WineFest in Palisade that happens in September. Because a lot of these are fairly limited, so this may be the only public testing that that they will be at this year. So we are just real excited to get everyone in one room.”
Caskey added that one of the exciting aspects of this competition has been having legend winemaker Warren Winiarski as a judge.
Caskey: “Most people don’t know that before Warren went to Napa and started Stag Leap he was the winemaker with Ivancie’s Cellars in Denver. So to have him be one of our judges has been delight. He has been so pleased over the last two years that he has judged for us about the status and the quality and improvement in Colorado wine.”
