Washington Ag December 6, 2005 More community meetings are being held this week by the Washington State Department of Agriculture on changes in the National Animal Identification System. The goal of that system is to be able to trace potentially affected animals within 48 hours in the event of a disease outbreak. Chris Spaulding is WSDAs Animal Identification specialist.

Spaulding: We are trying very hard to come out to various locations in the state so people can have the most current information and have the opportunity to ask questions about that. So yeah, we encourage people to come and to give us input. We will be listening as well as sharing the information.

There will be WSDA meetings tomorrow, December 7th at Moses Lake from 2-5 p.m. at the Grant County EMS and then in Yakima from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. at the WSDA Office in Yakima. On Thursday, December 8th a meeting will be held in Spokane from nine a.m. to noon at the Spokane EMS at 1121 Gardiner. That will be followed by a session in Clarkston from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. at the Asotin County Aquatic Center. A meeting in Pasco is scheduled for this Friday December 9th from nine a.m. to noon at the Franklin County EMS at 502 E. Boeing Street.
