Rep Newhouse on What's Upstream

I'm Bob Larson. After new information comes to light in the 'What's Upstream' campaign and potentially illegal funding from the Environmental Protection Agency, a Congressman from our state is calling for swift action.

Representative Dan Newhouse says the Save Family Farms group deserves answers and he's in the position to help ...

REP DAN NEWHOUSE ... "You know this is a good thing, from my perspective as a freshman congressman, that the committees of jurisdiction have and actually use their oversight responsibility on federal agencies. This is exactly the function of congress that's important and unfortunately we seem to have to use it too often, but this is a continuing effort to make sure that our government is transparent, our government's accountable and that all aspects of the federal government comply with federal law. And so this is something that's a high priority of mine and I'll continue to be active to make sure that the rules of law are followed."

Newhouse says Save Family Farms leadership is very understanding of the process ..

REP DAN NEWHOUSE ... "They're supportive of giving them enough time to answer the questions thoroughly and I thought that that was a great message from Save our Family Farms to be agreeable to that. These are important accusations and, like I said, we want to get to the heart of the matter, find the truth, and I support that process."

The PDC has given What's Upstream until December 1st to respond.

Newhouse hopes that it happens sooner.
