Commission may adopt wolf plan this week

Washington Ag Today November 29, 2011 The Washington Fish and Wildlife Commission is meeting December 2nd and 3rd in Olympia and on the third will consider adoption of a plan to guide state conservation and management of gray wolves.

Key aspects of the wolf plan recommended by the Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife would establish recovery objectives for gray wolves in Washington, along with strategies for addressing their interaction with livestock and wildlife such as deer and elk.

The Department of Fish and Wildlife held 19 public meetings on the proposed plan and the Commission held four public workshops so there will be not additional public comments December 3rd.

Now the Stockland Livestock Report.

This is Jack McQuinness at Stockland Livestock in Davenport. One-thousand cattle on our market. Cows and bulls higher again. We had cows into the 70 dollar money, the better quality higher yielding cows. Bulls also into the mid to high 70s. Some of these thin wet cows still in the high 40s, low 50s, but by and large cows two to three higher. Feeder cattle same story there. We were a buck or two higher on all weights and classes. Had a lot of good local demand helping the market along. Don’t forget regular cattle sale and special feeder sale next week and that’s December 5th and our big stock cow sale on December 10th.

Thanks Jack.
