Walking through a sportsman's show and met Linda Carney of Idaho Mountain Rescue who talked about finding lost hunters. "Relatives will call into the Sheriff and then the Sheriff calls us out. Within an hour we can be at the location. We will search dog and use airplanes try and spot people. We have a Tech team can climb mountains in case somebody has fallen off a cliff, which has happened. We are an all volunteer operation and we earn our own funds. Do you have an example of a rescue of a hunter that you can come up with? Several. We have gone up to Idaho City to find an overdue hunter and we have found hunters that were asleep in their truck even though their wife was worried about them. How big a part of this is the dog? You have a dog with you that says search dog. We have three certified dogs at this moment and nine dogs on our team, it takes 2 to 5 years to get a dog trained. Who does the training? The owner does it himself. The one with me is a wilderness dog. She is off lead. She will go out and locate any human, then comes back and bumps me and then takes us back to the person.
