Judging Bears

One of the toughest animals to judge are Trophy black bears, I wanted to share some tips from Dan Brooks on how he determines a bears size.

Dan," There are three things we are going to look at to determine the size of a boar. That's the head, neck, and body shape. When looking at the head of the bear the biggest features you are going to look at are the ears. You want them to appear small and at the side of the head. That's a good sign of a big bear. Bears also tend to grow meat on their head. It creates a crease, that's a sure sign of a big bear. Next time you see a bear, remember those three things, ears, neck, and body shape.
