Dinner turns into a story about fishing line.

Lee Roberts is a very good friend who is a lawyer, engineer, winemaker and also comes from a long line of fishing history.  I ate dinner at his beautiful home the other night and you’re about to find out what I mean by long line. “My dad worked in public relations for the DuPont company and he was approaching retirement, he had already trained his replacement, so he ended up making a deal with them that he got to take over national marketing of Stren monofilament fishing line. Dad was an avid fisherman and fished at every opportunity so this was perfect for him. He got to travel around the country doing sportsmen’s shows and putting on contests where people would try cast with fly rods and the targets floating in pools and that kind of thing. One of the things he did was run a Knot fishing knot tying contest where they were trying to see who could tie the strongest knot. I don’t know how long this went on but it had to go on for most of the season anyway and DuPont ultimately put out this little booklet that had the top 2 or 3 knots and whoever the winner was got some cash prize. He actually enjoyed his last bit of work at DuPont more than any other.
