2-6 SS Quail Creek

2-6 SS Quail Creek

There’s just something special about wing shooting on a Southern plantation.  My job as a host for a show called Outfitters Showcase on the Outdoor Channel took me to Lake Okeechobee, Florida where I visited a quail hunting plantation called Quail Creek. The lodging, meals, Hunt wagons and dogs were breathtaking. Here’s Quail Creek general manager Fred Fannizzi: “Quail Creek plantation began in 2001 as a commercial entity offering customer entertainment and hospitality through Quail hunting, sporting clay’s, overnight accommodations, fine southern meals and just a canvas for people to come from anywhere they choose to be treated well and enjoy themselves, get out of their coat and tie and just relax in a country atmosphere. The avid hunter gets a pretty good experience, tell me about the game and southern hospitality. The main focus of our hunting on the ranch is the bobwhite quail. Quail hunting as you know is a gentlemanly sport. Do we have to be  out of bed at 4 o’clock in the morning and eat freeze-dried food, no. We are not hunting mountain sheep in the Northwest territories or Alaska, we are enjoying a comfortable environment. There are a lot of tall tales retold about big game hunting and we do offer some Whitetail hunting on local ranches. However main focus is bobwhite quail starting in October and then we end up with turkeys.
