Raising A Family, Broadband Regulations & Illegal Statistics Drop. I’m Greg Martin with today’s Northwest Report.

If you have been looking for a good place to raise a family a recent online article included 2 northwest cities you might want to investigate, Pocatello, Idaho and Kennewick, Washington. The recommendations were based on job growth, healthy economies and a vibrant local culture. They also included the criteria for places already filled with families with children, quality of public schools, low crime rates, and lots of parks and recreation.

A new proposal coming out of the FCC would, for the first time, impose government regulations on broadband Internet providers throughout the country. According to U. S. Internet Industry Association President Dave McClure, it would significantly impact the expansion of high speed broadband Internet in rural communities

MCCLURE: It amounts to a policy that would impose 1930’s telephone regulations on today’s innovative internet marketplace and on broadband providers.

A new PEW Hispanic Center report says that the number of illegal immigrants living in the U.S. has dropped for the first time in two decades, decreasing by 8 percent since 2007. The reasons range from the sour economy to Mexican violence and increased U.S. enforcement that has made it harder to sneak across the border.
