Wine Program Awards. I'm Greg Martin with today's Fruit Grower Report.

The Washington Wine Industry Foundation has awarded nearly $12-thousand dollars in scholarships for students looking to get into the wine industry. The Ag Networks KayDee Gilkey has more.

GILKEY: The Foundation's mission is to strengthen the future of the Washington wine industry by advancing research, education, and leadership. WWIF helps coordinate, manage and promote scholarships and grants given by the wine and grape industry, as well as to develop resources for new ones. The funds were awarded from three scholarships: the Walter J. Clore Scholarship which was started in 1997 by the Washington Association of Wine Grape Growers to recognize and honor the research and lifetime achievements of Dr. Clore; the Horse Heaven Hills Wine Growers Scholarship designated for students from the Yakima, Klickitat or Benton counties; and the S. W. (Bill) Preston Scholarship which is a memorial offered by Preston Premium Wines and Preston Vineyards for a student studying in Washington.

A total of eight students received scholarships through the Washington Wine Industry Foundation. For more information on future scholarships be sure and contact them at http://washingtonwinefoundation.org.
