Weathering the Weather Workshop. I’m Greg Martin with today’s Fruit Grower Report.

Winegrape growers! WSU and the Washington Association of Wine Grape Growers have a workshop you won’t want to miss. Julie Lindholm, Special Projects Director with WAWGG.

LINDHOLM: The Washington State Viticulture and Enology program and the Washington Association of Wine Grape Growers is putting on a workshop titled “Weather ing the Weather: Preparing for a Cool Vintage. It will be on Tuesday, June 12 at the Yakima Valley Community College Grandview campus. The workshop is designed to answer questions faced by growers during the crop years of 2010 and 2012.

Lindholm talks about the subjects being covered.

LINDHOLM: How to deal with high acid wines, how to cope with vine development and fruit ripening in cool years. We do recommend that you register early as this workshop has limited space. The cost for WAWGG members is $42 per person through May 31or $55 after. And non-WAWGG members are welcome to come at $55 per person.

The workshop runs from 9 to 3:30 and includes lunch. You’ll also get updates on using AgWeatherNet and AWN based disease modeling as an information resource for growers and winemakers. ?
LINDHOLM: They can visit our website at wawgg.org to register and get more information. I think this gives the growers opportunity really to understand how to deal with the weather and the cool vintages.

That’s today’s Fruit Grower Report. I’m Greg Martin on the Ag Information Network.
