Montana Troutfitters out of Bozeman, Montana has a pretty great little service going on right now. Manager, Jake Adelman tells us tells us that one of their specialties is watching hatches coming off the river. “Right now we are sending everybody out to the lower Madison, mostly because of runoff but secondly because the fishing has been so good. We had a guide on there yesterday and they saw a ton of smaller Golden Stones and from 10 AM to one PM there were Blue Wing Olives coming off. We had another employee who was turning over rocks and there were some salmon flies crawling around underneath the rocks so you could probably expect to see that salmon fly hatch in Bear Trap Canyon at the end of this weekend or early next week. If someone were to come up without the proper gear you can set people up? Yes. We supply all the gear for free and the only thing you pay for is a trip fee and whatever flies, lines, and leaders that you use. The cost is $475 for a full day float. That includes boots, waders, rods and reels. The way we do our fly charges is that we check out a certain number of flies in the morning, you go out and fish and we check when you get back and charge you based on what you used.
